Yesterday was Veteran's Day. For many Americans, it's just another day off. We appreciate the time with our family, and the kids rejoice to be liberated from their schoolwork. Perhaps a few of us attend a special ceremony honoring the veterans in our community. Yesterday I thought about my dad.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Unless an athlete or a celebrity is the mother or father of your child, he or she has no responsibility for the growth and development of your child. Most athletes and celebrities are between the ages of fourteen and forty years old. They do not have their own children. They are often still being guided by their parents, their managers, and all of the other people on their payroll.

About three weeks ago I was introduced to an extremely beautiful woman. Her beauty seemed to radiate from inside her body, out to the
surface of her skin. She wore a smile that never left her face the
entire time that we visited together. From the very first moment I met
this young woman I felt as if I had known her all my life. I called her
the” Beautiful One.”
Last Friday I was again given a second opportunity to spend some time with this lady and her family. That was when I knew I had met an angel.

What was your favorite toy when you were young?
Mine was a bucket of bricks. Those plastic bricks with the bumps on the
top that let you click them together and build whatever your
imagination let you. I used to have one great box of these bricks and
used to build everything from houses to spaceships, from robots to car
parks for my toy cars, and every day would be an opportunity to break
down yesterday's creation and start a new one all over.

Mission statements are no longer a thing of board rooms and corporate
offices. Mission statements are coming to a family room near you.
That’s right, families across the country are creating and adopting
mission statement for their families and displaying with prominence in
their homes. Why a family would need such a thing, you ask. The reasons
are similar to that of any organization or business: to state common
values and goals. Even Jon and Kate Gosselin from Jon and Kate Plus 8
created one for their family. However, you don't have to have 8
children to need a mission statement. One is all you need.
