Getting Results

B. C. Forbes said, “A business, like an automobile, has to be driven in order to get results."
Too often in life we get caught up thinking that all we need is a great idea. The truth is that the idea is only the beginning. It takes more than an idea and the idea doesn’t even have to be that great.
There are a plethora of great ideas that never go beyond the thought stage. Like a car, we have to drive the idea out of our minds and into the real world. Sit at any coffee shop and you’ll hear stories of ideas that never came to be. They wax about how, “I thought about opening a coffee shop way before Starbucks did,” as they sip their Mocha Frappucino.
They lament how, “The studio stole my movie idea," the idea they never put on paper.
Trust me, these corporations and studios didn't steal your idea. Ideas are a dime a dozen. It’s what you do with the idea that makes all the difference. I have a friend who was a stunt car driver for many of the popular 1980’s television shows. He reminds me all the time that he could be in a Pinto and I could be in a Ferrari (hot red preferably) and he would out perform me every time. That’s why people who are successful in one business, tend to open up other businesses and make them successful. It's not the car, it's the driver!
Learn to be a good driver, and act when the ideas come.
