“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. It goes on.” Those were powerful words written by American poet Robert Frost. Important and powerful words filled with so much meaning. Look at our world. The best things, those that are true and real, are the most simple. I went to my sister-in-law's graduation a few days back, and realized that there are people in this world who really believe they are smarter because they use big words (I used to think super-cali-fragilicious-expi-ali-docious was a big word, until I found out it was made up). They are the same people who talk just to be heard. They love the sound of their own voice. This may sound like an odd comment coming from a speaker, but its the truth. In my experience doing seminars it always amazed me how some people use the question and answer period as an opportunity to talk about themselves. When people work hard to appear intelligent and make things complicated for everyone
listening its usually their insecurity talking. Communication is about others understanding you. It's not about the words you use or the podium from which you speak. The most important part about communicating is getting your point across so that the person listening 'gets it.' The other person needs to understand what you are trying to say. If I speak and nobody understands what I am saying I am not communicating, I am pontificating. Get it? Don't make things more complicated than they are. Keep things simple. The most brilliant teachers are those that can explain complex subjects simply. You are not a teacher if nobody is learning. Too much of life is complicated. But the  important stuff is simple. We go on. We continue no matter what. Life is precious. Don't miss a moment. Funny thing is that when we are dead and gone, well ... life still goes on ... for everyone else. Take life seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously.

By the way, how’d I do? Did I make my point simply or simply fail to make a point?
