Looking back on the year 2010, there was a theme that dominated the world and pervaded the psyche of all of its inhabitants that can be summed up in one word: FEAR.
In the aftermath of this recent seismic event, Americans began taking iodine pills and stocking up on earthquake rations. The fear was palpable. It led to a run on supplies which made the event quite profitable to those who sold earthquake packages and to the pharmaceutical companies who manufactured iodine pills.
Media ratings soared as they fed us a twenty-four-hour-a-day diet of fear and uncertainty.
The ironic thing is that in order to deliver the news as it was happening, CNN, CNBC and many other twenty-four hour news media outlets sent their people into the nuclear soup to swim around and report back to the fearful American people about the dangers that could befall those of us of living in America who were thousands of miles away from the pot of nuclear soup in Japan.
Fear does not allow a person to think rationally. Fear leads to reactions that can endanger a person rather than protect them. Fear is a product of the mind, which can cause a person to accept misinformation as fact.
By taking control of our own mind we can eliminate fear
in all forms.
As we look back on our childhood most of us can remember some of the nursery rhymes that our parents, teachers and others taught us.
Rock-a-by-baby on the tree top, when the wind blow the
cradle will rock
When the wind blow the cradle will fall, down come baby
cradle and all.
Not very reassuring thoughts for a child who is placed in a cradle.
There are so many of these little negative thoughts that have been passed on from generation to generation. I call these little negative nuggets “Fear Training.”
This brings us back to the topic of Living Without Fear. How does a person live their life without fear? By recognizing that fear starts in the mind, and that each person has the control and the power to make decisions that will overcome fear.
Every thought and idea starts in the mind. It is essential to develop the ideas that enter the mind in order to eliminate those that are not based on positive principles. By acknowledging the power and strength innate to each person, individuals are are able to build on positive thinking and actions.
By stopping the infiltration of negative information throughout the day and focusing on the positive, people can eliminate fear.
