One thing that should be clear right up front is that a Home Based Business is NOT right for everyone. However, with that said, I will tell you that “Anyone can have Success with a Home Based Business”. Yes, Anyone!
Do not take my last statement to mean that it is easy, because it is not. Then again you really don’t want it to be easy. If it were everyone would be doing it and the market would be over saturated leading to the limitation of the opportunity. If you are willing to put in the time, work, self development and step outside your current comfort zone, you will be Successful.
Let’s start at the beginning with some important details. Network Marketing, Direct Sales, Home Based Business, MLM or whatever term you may use is a VERY viable and legitimate business model. One that offers true equal opportunity, a phenomenal means of acquiring true wealth and a education equal to nothing you will find anywhere else, if you have the desire, determination and persistence to stick with it.
To give you some idea of the validity of Network Marketing, there are a number of top celebrities like Robert Allen, Donald Trump, Mark Victor Hansen, Brian Tracy and Robert Kiyosaki doing it and advocating it. However, even with the recommendation and promotion by such renowned celebrities in many circles, you might as well declare yourself a leper as admit to being in network marketing. Yes, expect to run into criticism from friends, family, strangers, and the list goes on. I will ask you to take comfort in the fact that I have found that many of the people that will criticize you for participating in an MLM opportunity are the very people that have no dreams of their own, nor the desire, determination or persistence to change their current financial state.
Robert Kiyosaki stated, "If I had to do it all over again, rather than build an old style type of business, I would have started building a network marketing business." To take that a step further he even went so far as to write an entire book dedicated to the Network Marketing industry, the benefits that it offers and why you should closely consider Network Marketing as a revolutionary way to achieve wealth.
Network Marketing, or as it is often referred to Direct Selling, goes back thousands of years and for many was the only means of supporting their families. Today network marketing offers a number of benefits to include, but not limited to:
- Anyone can do it, as there are no required levels of education, experience, financial resources or physical condition.
- Start up costs are minimal as compared to starting a traditional business or buying a franchise.
- Direct selling is a great way to meet and socialize with positive ambitious people.
- Earnings are in direct proportion to your efforts or the lack of.
- Direct Selling offers flexible work schedules that can be adjust to fit your needs/desires.
- Gives you access to many of the same tax loopholes the Rich use to maintain their wealth.
- Offers you life-changing business education that can NOT be learned in a traditional school.
Many of the Nay Sayers will ask you if you are involved in a pyramid scheme or business. But you can't really take issue with a tiered compensation structure as almost every large sales organization has that. Take a look at any large company and you will find that salespeople get commission, sales managers get overrides or bonuses, and sales directors get a bonus or override, and lastly VPs typically get a bonus on top of that. Do you think any of the salespeople in those organizations will every make more than the VP? Certainly not.
Now in contrast to that I can tell you that in a typical Network Marketing organization you will find people near the bottom of any given organization that make far more than the people that recruited them or much higher than they are. This point goes directly to my earlier statement that in the world of Direct Sales there is TRUE equal opportunity and your earnings are directly in proportion to your efforts.
By now you may be asking yourself exactly how to go about getting started. Below I will list a few of the considerations that you will want to keep in mind as you do your due diligence:
- Identify a company and product that you can get excited about and be passionate about talking to prospects about.
- Make sure that your company’s products are of good quality, has some particular niche and/or your company has the means to protect it products through patents, etc.
- Take your time deciding, but once you have completed a reasonable amount of research make a decision and move on. Don’t let someone pressure you by telling you that it is a ground floor opportunity and you don’t want to miss out.
- As part of your due diligence review copies of company literature, training materials and attend several different presentations if possible.
- Ask sufficient questions about the company, the leadership, the products or services, start-up fees, REALISTIC costs of doing business, typical earnings of distributors, return policies, etc, etc.
- Talk with others, especially consumers, who have knowledge of the company, its products and service.
Again, owning a Home Based Business is not for everyone, but the benefits strongly suggest that owning a home based business will present opportunities that may not otherwise be available to you and your family.
The financial rewards, the education, the opportunity to develop solid leadership and sales skills, the ability to NO longer have to trade your time for dollars and most importantly the ability to create a life, verses simply making a living. To Your Success!
