Nowadays with the unstable economy and fear of losing jobs, people are turning to the Internet to find something they can do from home to either supplement their current income or replace it all together.
There are so many home based businesses out there to choose from today. Everywhere you turn, there is someone with an offer for their online business that they want you to join. How do you know which one would best suit your needs? Will you actually make any money? How do you know if they are a scam or not?
No doubt you or someone you know has been burned before by fraudsters or scam artists. Here are some questions to ask when looking for a legitimate home based business.
1. Is there a real person on the other end you can either call or email for assistance? There should always be a phone number, 'submit a ticket,' 'help,' or 'contact us' located somewhere on the web page.
2. Is there a back office on the website where you can go for training 24/7 for any aspect of your business? This should include audios or videos or written materials that give you any assistance you might require for building your business.
3. How are commissions paid to you? The ideal setup is where you receive your commission off the top and are paid directly, rather than waiting for funds to trickle down from people above and wonder if you will ever get paid.
4. Is there a product? If there is not a product or service involved - Beware!
5. Is the price to sign up with the program worth the value of what you are getting in products and benefits? There are some programs out there that cost thousands to get involved. What are you getting for that money?
6. Are you getting a mentor or mentoring system when you join? Is there someone who will take you by the hand and show you exactly what to do - even if it's with video tutorials?
7. How are payments handled? If it's done automatically for you with PayPal or AlertPay or some company similar to these two well-known services, that's great. Being expected to set up a merchant account to handle payments can be very expensive.
8. Does it sound like a get-rich-quick scheme? Offers that generate this tone are generally a suck-in by playing on your emotions to make the quick buck. Don't just jump into something with both feet without testing the waters. Do a search for the business on the Internet and see what you can find out about it first.
The list could to on and on about the features and benefits to either look for or avoid when searching for a legitimate home business, especially if you are working from home online.
Just remember to use caution and check the business out carefully. And remember to use your gut instinct. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
